Phantom vs Solflare: 2026 Comparison

Last reviewed: 2026-05-03

Phantom and Solflare are the two largest Solana-native wallets. Phantom (~5M MAU) is the default for most Solana users, with the smoothest onboarding UX, an embedded fiat onramp, NFT-first views, and recent expansion to Ethereum and Bitcoin. Solflare (~1.5M MAU) predates Phantom on Solana and remains the preferred wallet for serious SOL stakers — its validator-selection UI and multi-account power-user features are stronger, while its overall feature surface is more conservative. Both support hardware wallets and most Solana dApps treat them as interchangeable.

Where Phantom wins

Where Solflare wins

Best for which user

Choose Phantom if:

You want the smoothest onboarding for first-time crypto, are NFT-focused, need multi-chain (Solana + Ethereum + Bitcoin) in one wallet, or want the broadest dApp compatibility.

Choose Solflare if:

You stake meaningful SOL and want a real validator picker, run multiple accounts and need a power-user portfolio view, or prefer a community-backed Solana-native wallet.

Use both if:

NFT and dApp activity in Phantom; staking and multi-account portfolio management in Solflare. Same seed phrase imports cleanly into both.

Pricing detail

Both wallets are free to download and use, fully non-custodial. Built-in swaps in both route through Jupiter (Solana's leading DEX aggregator) so the underlying execution price is essentially identical; there is no in-wallet surcharge in either product. Fiat onramp pricing is set by the third-party provider (MoonPay, Coinbase Pay, etc.) and is the same regardless of which wallet you use. Hardware-wallet pairing is free on both. There is no paid tier.

Frequently asked questions

Is Phantom or Solflare more popular?

Phantom — roughly 3-4x the MAU (~5M vs ~1.5M as of 2026). Phantom is the default in most onboarding flows and is the wallet most Solana dApps test against first.

Which is better for staking SOL?

Solflare. Its validator-picker UI shows APY, commission, vote-credit performance and MEV history per validator — Phantom's staking UI is more basic. Serious stakers overwhelmingly choose Solflare.

Can I use the same seed phrase in both?

Yes. Both are standard Solana wallets using the same derivation paths, so importing the same seed into both will give you the same addresses. Many users keep both installed for different workflows.

Does Phantom support Ethereum and Bitcoin?

Yes — Phantom expanded to Ethereum and Bitcoin starting in 2024. You can hold ETH/USDC and BTC/Ordinals in the same wallet as your SOL. Solflare also added EVM support more recently but Solana remains its primary surface.

Does Solflare work with Trezor?

Yes — Solflare supports both Ledger and Trezor (via the Trezor Solana app). Phantom is Ledger-only for hardware wallet pairing as of 2026.

Switch from Phantom to Solflare

  1. Export your data from Phantom. Download trade history, address book, and tax CSVs from the account-settings export panel before disabling 2FA or rotating keys.
  2. Set up your Solflare account. Complete KYC if required, enable hardware-backed 2FA, fund a small test deposit, and verify withdrawal works end-to-end before moving size.
  3. Migrate balances and recreate workflows. Move funds in tranches rather than one transfer; re-create recurring orders, watchlists, API keys and alerts on Solflare; keep Phantom live for 30 days as a fallback.

Reverse direction works the same way — see Solflare vs Phantom if you're moving the other way (page may not exist; the steps above invert cleanly).
