Deribit is a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, founded in 2016 and later headquartered in Dubai, that became the dominant venue for Bitcoin and Ether options as well as futures and perpetuals. In May 2025 Coinbase agreed to acquire Deribit for approximately $2.9 billion in cash and stock - the largest acquisition in the crypto industry at the time - and the deal closed in August 2025. Deribit now operates as part of Coinbase's international derivatives business.
