Overview

Project Guardian is an asset tokenization initiative led by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, bringing together regulators and financial institutions to pilot tokenized use cases in fixed income, foreign exchange, and asset and wealth management. Launched in 2022, it began by testing DeFi mechanics in wholesale funding markets and has since expanded to more than 20 participating financial institutions plus overseas regulators such as the UK FCA. Outputs include the Guardian Funds Framework, a set of non-prescriptive standards and best practices for tokenised funds. MAS runs it alongside the related Global Layer One (GL1) shared-ledger initiative.
