Takaichi’s Popularity Dips After Prioritizing Controversial Laws

Support for Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's cabinet fell across July polls: Jiji put approval at 49% (down 5.3 points), ANN at 49.2% (down 10.9) and Mainichi at 41% with 44% disapproval, the first time disapproval led. Analysts blamed the revised Imperial House Law allowing adoption by male-line descendants, the backup capital bill, looser weapons export rules and weak inflation relief.
