Vietnam sets new crypto trading fines on par with drunk-driving penalties
Vietnam's Decree No. 284/2026/ND-CP, signed July 16 and effective September 1, fines investors VND 30-50 million ($1,140-$1,900) for trading through crypto providers not licensed by the Ministry of Finance - comparable to the country's drunk-driving fines. Trading foreign-investor-only assets draws up to $3,800, and unlicensed service providers face far larger penalties.
