Carney, Trump Agree to Speed Up Trade Talks Before 50% Tariffs Hit

Trump imposed 50% tariffs on Canadian goods including wine, dairy, cement, furniture and hockey equipment under Section 338 of the 1930 Tariff Act, taking effect in 30 days. Prime Minister Mark Carney called it a breach of the USMCA but said Canada was ready to "engage intensively" and step up negotiations rather than retaliate.
