Nigerian President Bola Tinubu signed the Presidential Executive Order on Virtual Assets Coordination, 2026, creating a unified, activity-based framework for crypto oversight without setting up a new regulator. Securities-like assets stay with the SEC and payment and custody services with the CBN, while the Nigeria Revenue Service will publish separate guidance on how existing tax law applies to digital assets.
