Burnham Cuts Taxes on Energy Bills to Ease Cost-of-Living Burden

New UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced the abolition of the 5% VAT on domestic electricity bills from 1 October, saving the average household about £45 a year at a cost of roughly £850 million this financial year. He said it would be funded by scrapping the previous government's digital ID scheme.
