US will cut aluminium tariffs to boost defence supply chain
Trump signed a proclamation on 21 July 2026 halving US aluminium import tariffs to 25% from 50% for companies committing to build or expand domestic smelting capacity and start construction by 20 January 2029. Commerce will assess feasibility and grant relief on import volumes matching projected US output.
