Federal regulators missed the GENIUS Act's one-year deadline on Jul. 18 without issuing any final stablecoin rules, leaving issuers six months to prepare. Five federal bodies, including the Treasury and Federal Reserve, have only draft text, and none completed the notice-and-comment process. The law binds issuers by Jan. 18, 2027, or 120 days after final rules are issued.
