Overview
ARKB is the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF, a US spot bitcoin exchange-traded product sponsored jointly by ARK Invest and 21Shares. Its inception date was 10 January 2024 — part of the first cohort of US spot bitcoin ETFs approved by the SEC — with the initial seed creation baskets purchased on 9 January 2024. The trust charges a unitary Sponsor Fee of 0.21%, largely paid in bitcoin, which covers most of its operating expenses. To compete on launch, the sponsor waived the entire fee for a nine-month period beginning 11 January 2024, or until the trust reached its first $1 billion in assets, whichever came first. Per the trust's SEC filings, net assets were approximately $3.16 billion at 31 March 2024, $2.85 billion at 30 June 2024, $3.21 billion at 30 September 2024 and $4.35 billion at 31 December 2024, making it one of the larger US spot bitcoin funds outside BlackRock's and Fidelity's products. ARKB began trading on 10 January 2024 alongside the first wave of US spot bitcoin ETFs, having been seeded the previous day. Its fee waiver ran from 11 January 2024 until the earlier of nine months or $1 billion in assets, after which the 0.21% sponsor fee applied.
