Also known as: BUIDL

Overview

BUIDL is the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, BlackRock's first tokenised fund issued on a public blockchain, launched in March 2024 with Securitize as tokenisation provider and transfer agent. It gives qualified investors onchain access to US dollar yield, with flexible custody, daily dividend payouts and near real-time 24/7/365 peer-to-peer transfers of fund shares. Yield is generated by a portfolio of US Treasury bills, repurchase agreements and cash held at BNY Mellon, so the token is a claim on a conventional short-duration cash portfolio rather than a crypto-native yield strategy. BUIDL launched on Ethereum and has since expanded to Aptos, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism and Polygon, with cross-chain interoperability enabled by Wormhole. It crossed $1 billion in AUM in 2025, and as of May 2026 held approximately $2.5 billion across six chains, making it one of the two largest tokenised US Treasury products alongside Circle's USYC. Uniswap Labs and Securitize have also partnered to make BUIDL usable as DeFi liquidity. BUIDL launched in March 2024 on Ethereum, surpassed $1 billion in AUM in 2025 — a milestone announced jointly by BlackRock and Securitize — and expanded across Aptos, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism and Polygon, reaching roughly $2.5 billion by May 2026.
