Cosmos Hub chain
Overview
The Cosmos Hub is the first blockchain in the Cosmos network and the flagship deployment of the interchain stack: CometBFT for consensus, the Cosmos SDK for application logic, and IBC for interoperability with other chains. It is a proof-of-stake network whose native token, ATOM, is delegated to validators to secure the chain, earning delegators additional ATOM in return, and which confers on-chain governance rights over proposals directing the network's future. Node operators and users interact with the Hub through gaiad, the command-line tool that provides complete coverage of Hub functionality including accounts, transfers, delegation and governance — the only tool offering the full feature set. The Hub sits at the centre of a Cosmos ecosystem that the Cosmos documentation says now spans more than 200 chains live in production. Stewardship of the core stack runs through Cosmos Labs, a subsidiary of the Interchain Foundation, a Swiss non-profit that oversees treasury and governance for the ecosystem.
