Overview

Hemi is a modular layer-2 network that aims to treat Bitcoin and Ethereum as components of a single supernetwork. It runs the Hemi Virtual Machine (hVM), a Geth-based EVM that embeds a Bitcoin node so contracts can read Bitcoin state directly, and secures itself with Proof-of-Proof consensus, which anchors Hemi state into Bitcoin blocks so transactions eventually inherit Bitcoin's security — a property Hemi calls superfinality. It is built using Cosmos SDK and OP Stack components and posts data to Ethereum. The HEMI token has a maximum supply of 10 billion, and the project raised roughly $30 million.

Within the DeFi Intel graph, Hemi connects to 15 tracked entities, most strongly to Ethereum, USD Coin, Tether USD.
