Overview
Manta Pacific is a modular Ethereum layer-2 built for zero-knowledge applications, using the OP Stack for execution and Celestia for data availability — a combination that lets it offer EVM compatibility at a fraction of the cost of posting all data to Ethereum. It describes itself as the first modular L2 on Ethereum using Celestia DA, launched in 2023, evolving from the project's original incarnation as a ZK stack on Polkadot in 2020. Developers build with standard Ethereum tools and workflows, with the network's differentiation being cheap, high-throughput execution suited to ZK-heavy applications. The MANTA token secures the network through staking, advertised at 14.7% APY on manta.network in July 2026, and the site reports 204+ ecosystem projects spanning DeFi, SocialFi and derivatives. Ongoing initiatives include CeDeFi programmes and planned fast-finality features. Importantly, the project is consolidating: Manta Atlantic, its other network, will sunset on 1 August 2026, and users must migrate their assets to Manta Pacific. Began in 2020 as a ZK stack on Polkadot, then relaunched in 2023 as Manta Pacific, the first modular Ethereum L2 using Celestia for data availability on the OP Stack. Its sibling network Manta Atlantic is being wound down, sunsetting 1 August 2026 with assets migrating to Manta Pacific.
