Overview
Manta Network is a modular blockchain ecosystem focused on zero-knowledge applications, made up of two interoperable layers: Manta Pacific and Manta Atlantic. Manta Pacific is the EVM-native modular execution layer for ZK applications and was the first layer 2 to move to modular data availability, posting its transaction call data to Celestia rather than to Ethereum, which sharply reduces transaction costs relative to other rollups. Manta Pacific runs a modified OP Stack and has been transitioning to a multi-prover system to generate ZK proofs for batched transactions, with the stated goal of full migration to a ZK proving system; documentation also describes the use of Polygon CDK to offer a Type 1 zkEVM giving a native EVM experience on layer 2. MANTA is the network's token, with a total supply of 1 billion, of which 36% was allocated to airdrops, Binance Launchpad and ecosystem growth, and holders vote on proposals covering transaction fees, staking rewards and governance structure. Manta Network built out a dual-chain design of Manta Atlantic and Manta Pacific. Manta Pacific became the first layer 2 to transition to modular data availability using Celestia, and has published a roadmap moving from a modified OP Stack toward a multi-prover ZK system and a Type 1 zkEVM via Polygon CDK. The MANTA token was distributed partly through Binance Launchpad and airdrops.
