Plasma chain
Overview
Plasma is an EVM-compatible layer-1 blockchain purpose-built for stablecoin payments, whose mainnet beta launched on 25 September 2025. Its headline features are zero-fee USDT transfers, support for custom gas tokens, and a Bitcoin bridge, with the chain periodically anchoring to Bitcoin. It uses PlasmaBFT consensus for sub-second finality and targets remittances, merchant payments and yield use cases. The launch drew over $2 billion in stablecoin liquidity and integrations with more than 100 DeFi protocols including Aave, Euler, Ethena and Fluid. XPL is the native token.
Within the DeFi Intel graph, Plasma connects to 25 tracked entities, most strongly to Tether USD, Pendle, Uniswap V3.
