Overview
Bridge is a stablecoin infrastructure company that provides APIs and software enabling businesses to accept and move stablecoin payments — a 'stablecoin orchestration platform' founded by Zach Abrams and Sean Yu. It is no longer independent: Stripe announced its acquisition of Bridge on 21 October 2024 for $1.1 billion and closed the deal on 4 February 2025, making it Stripe's largest acquisition ever and, at the time, the most valuable deal in the cryptocurrency industry. The strategic logic was to give Stripe ownership of crypto-backed payment rails rather than integrating a third party. Following the acquisition, Stripe launched Stablecoin Financial Accounts, which let businesses in 101 countries hold balances in dollar-backed stablecoins, receive funds on both crypto and fiat rails, and send stablecoins globally. Bridge's stablecoin issuance stack has continued to develop under Stripe, spanning products from USDB onward. Bridge was founded by Zach Abrams and Sean Yu as stablecoin payment infrastructure. Stripe announced the $1.1 billion acquisition on 21 October 2024 and closed it on 4 February 2025; the Stablecoin Financial Accounts product built on Bridge launched thereafter across 101 countries.
