Bybit company
Overview
Bybit is a centralised cryptocurrency exchange headquartered in Dubai, offering spot, derivatives and other digital-asset trading products, and is one of the largest exchanges by volume. In February 2025 it suffered what is widely described as the largest crypto theft on record, losing roughly $1.4-1.5 billion of Ethereum after attackers attributed to North Korea's Lazarus Group compromised its wallet signing process. Bybit's CEO said customer losses would be covered, including via a bridge loan. Dubai's Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority subsequently issued a supervisory fine, and the incident became a reference point in debates over exchange security and regulation.
