Overview
Hashnote is a regulated digital asset manager that builds tokenised investment products bridging traditional finance and crypto, best known for USYC (US Yield Coin), a tokenised vehicle giving holders exposure to short-term, effectively risk-free Treasury-backed yield in an onchain wrapper. Its regulatory footprint spans both sides of the US border: Hashnote is registered with the CFTC as a Commodity Pool Operator for US investors, is a member of the National Futures Association, and is licensed as a mutual fund with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority for non-US investors. Its team is drawn from traditional finance and banking, options trading, software engineering and blockchain, with more than 50 years of combined experience; Alex Walchli serves as VP of Engineering. Hashnote is no longer independent: it was acquired by Circle, the issuer of USDC, in a deal that brought USYC into Circle's product line and included a strategic partnership with the trading firm DRW. The Hashnote website is restricted to non-US persons. Hashnote launched USYC as a tokenised Treasury-yield product under CFTC (CPO) registration and a CIMA mutual fund licence, then was acquired by Circle, which took over USYC alongside a strategic partnership with DRW. Hashnote therefore now operates inside Circle rather than as a standalone manager.
