Overview
Mellow is modular vault infrastructure that lets platforms, exchanges and institutions launch yield programmes without writing smart contracts. Operating since 2022, it provides configurable vaults that can be deployed in two to four weeks by configuration rather than code, with an API-first design giving programmatic access to deposits, withdrawals and strategy execution. Risk control is enforced onchain through more than 60 granular permissions with role-based access control, and a verifier architecture allows new strategies to be deployed within hours. Curators run strategy execution and rebalancing inside the risk parameters set by the vault owner, so the party taking the risk and the party trading are separated but both are bound by onchain rules. Mellow became prominent as the vault layer for Symbiotic restaking, and it supports yield generation via validator networks and middleware operators as well as venues across DeFi and CeFi. The protocol reports more than 60 live vaults, over 50 institutional partners including Lido, P2P and Ethena, and a peak TVL of $1 billion. Mellow has been operating since 2022 and rose to prominence as the modular vault layer for Symbiotic restaking, reaching a peak TVL of $1 billion before broadening into general institutional yield infrastructure spanning both DeFi and CeFi venues.
