Overview

Societe Generale is one of France's largest banks, established on 4 May 1864, with its registered office at 29 Boulevard Haussmann in Paris and operational headquarters at the Tours Societe Generale in La Defense, Nanterre. It reported total assets of EUR 1.55 trillion, revenue of EUR 27.3 billion, net income of EUR 6.00 billion and 119,000 employees in 2025 figures, and organises its business into retail banking in France, international banking and financial services, and corporate and investment banking, alongside specialised financial services, insurance, private banking and global investment management. Its digital asset activity sits in the dedicated subsidiary SG-FORGE, which bridges capital markets and digital assets and issues CoinVertible - the EURCV and USDCV stablecoins - described by SG-FORGE as the first stablecoin supported by a major European bank. SG-FORGE's other products include Smart Cash as an alternative to certificates of deposit, tokenised bonds and structured products issued on Ethereum and Tezos, and it operates on a blockchain-agnostic basis. SG-FORGE's site lists 2026 milestones including work with flatexDEGIRO, BNP Paribas and European settlement platforms. Founded in 1864, Societe Generale grew into a global universal bank and one of the three largest French banking groups. It entered digital assets through its SG-FORGE subsidiary, which issued the euro stablecoin EURCV and later the dollar-denominated USDCV under the CoinVertible brand, and has issued tokenised bonds and structured products on Ethereum and Tezos.
