Strike company
Overview
Strike is a Bitcoin payments company founded in 2020 by Jack Mallers, built on the Bitcoin Lightning Network to let users send and receive payments quickly and without fees and to use bitcoin as a savings and payment tool. Mallers had earlier founded Zap, a Lightning-based bitcoin investment and payments company, and Strike grew out of that work. The company has since broadened beyond payments into crypto lending, unveiling a lending programme for its users. Strike's founder was closely involved in the Tether-backed bitcoin treasury vehicle Twenty One Capital, becoming its CEO at launch, but that arrangement has since unwound: Twenty One named Raphael Zagury CEO effective 20 July, with Mallers stepping down to return full-time to Strike, and Twenty One confirmed that Strike was dropping out of the three-way merger Tether had proposed in April. Jack Mallers founded Zap and then Strike in 2020. Strike later launched a crypto lending programme. Mallers became CEO of Twenty One Capital, the Tether/SoftBank/Cantor-backed bitcoin treasury venture, but stepped down effective 20 July in favour of Raphael Zagury and returned to Strike full-time, with Strike exiting Tether's proposed three-way merger.
