Overview
The Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (ticker BITB) is a US spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund sponsored by Bitwise Asset Management. Its registration statement was declared effective by the SEC on 10 January 2024 and shares began trading on NYSE Arca on 11 January 2024, in the first cohort of US spot bitcoin ETFs. The fund holds bitcoin directly, with custody at Coinbase Custody Trust Company. Bitwise launched it as the lowest-cost product in the group: a 0.20% management fee, set to 0% for the first six months on the first $1 billion of assets. It crossed $1 billion in assets under management less than five weeks after launch, which Bitwise says placed it among the 25 fastest ETPs in history to reach that milestone, and more recent figures put it at about $3.5 billion. BITB was cleared by the SEC on 10 January 2024 and listed on NYSE Arca on 11 January 2024 alongside the first US spot bitcoin ETFs. It reached $1 billion in assets within five weeks and has since grown to roughly $3.5 billion.
