Overview
ETHV is the VanEck Ethereum ETF, a US exchange-traded fund providing spot exposure to ether. VanEck announced its launch on 23 July 2024, the first day of US spot ether ETF trading, although VanEck's own fund page lists an inception date of 25 June 2024. The fund holds ether directly rather than using futures. On fees, VanEck competed aggressively at launch: the sponsor fee was set at zero through 22 July 2025 or until the fund reached its first $1.5 billion in assets under management, whichever came first, reverting to 0.20% thereafter — placing it among the cheaper US spot ether products alongside Bitwise at 0.20% and Franklin Templeton at 0.19%, and well below Grayscale's ETHE at 2.5%. VanEck's published ETF fee schedule continues to list ETHV among its US products. VanEck launched ETHV in the first cohort of US spot ether ETFs in July 2024, using a full fee waiver through 22 July 2025 (or the first $1.5 billion in assets) to compete for launch flows before the 0.20% expense ratio took effect.
