Overview
OpenZeppelin Defender is a platform for operating and securing smart contracts on Ethereum and other EVM-compatible blockchains. It provides tools for contract administration, including automated actions (Relayers), access control management, upgrade and timelock operations, and monitoring/alerting. The product is used by development teams to maintain post-deployment security and operational efficiency.
As of 2026-07-16, OpenZeppelin is sunsetting the hosted Defender platform: new sign-ups were disabled on 30 June 2025 and the platform is scheduled to retire on 1 July 2026, with OpenZeppelin directing users to its open-source Relayer and Monitor tools (or a paid Managed Service).
