Overview

HSBC is a global banking group and one of the more active large banks in digital assets. It operates HSBC Orion, a proprietary distributed ledger platform for issuing and settling digitally native bonds, which has been used for sovereign, supranational and corporate issuance including the Hong Kong government's digital green bonds and which was awarded the platform mandate for the UK's DIGIT digital gilt pilot. HSBC's wider digital asset work includes tokenised gold and custody services for institutional clients.
