MEV-Boost protocol
Overview
MEV-Boost is a middleware protocol that enables Ethereum validators to outsource block construction to external builders. It implements proposer-builder separation (PBS), allowing validators to accept pre-built blocks that include maximal extractable value (MEV) transactions. Developed by Flashbots, it is used by a majority of Ethereum validators to optimize reward generation through MEV.
Within the DeFi Intel graph, MEV-Boost connects to 8 tracked entities, most strongly to Flashbots, Flashbots MEV-Boost Relay, bloXroute Regulated Relay.

Frequently asked questions
What is MEV-Boost?
MEV-Boost is a protocol that connects Ethereum validators with block builders. Validators can delegate block creation to builders, who may include MEV opportunities, potentially increasing validator income.
How does MEV-Boost affect validator rewards?
Validators using MEV-Boost may earn additional rewards from MEV included in blocks, beyond the standard consensus rewards. However, the exact amount depends on market dynamics and builder competition.
What are the risks of using MEV-Boost?
Risks include trust assumptions in builders (e.g., incorrect execution or censorship), potential centralization of block production, and exposure to builder misbehavior such as equivocation or invalid blocks.
What is MEV-Boost connected to?
In the DeFi Intel knowledge graph, MEV-Boost is linked to 8 other tracked entities, most strongly to Flashbots, Flashbots MEV-Boost Relay, bloXroute Regulated Relay.
