Overview

"Ultra sound money" is an Ethereum meme, coined by Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake, describing the possibility that ETH's supply can shrink because a portion of transaction fees is burned under EIP-1559 — playing off Bitcoin's "sound money" framing of a capped supply. The ultrasound.money team maintains a public dashboard tracking ETH issuance and burn, and also operates the Ultra Sound Relay, a credibly-neutral, permissionless MEV-Boost relay offered as a public good. The relay validates blocks against consensus rules only, in the spirit of enshrined proposer-builder separation, with the aim of reducing relay-level censorship. The team's code is published on GitHub under the ultrasoundmoney organisation.
