EUR CoinVertible token
Overview
EUR CoinVertible (EURCV) is a euro-denominated stablecoin issued by Société Générale–FORGE (SG-Forge), the crypto-asset and blockchain subsidiary of the French banking group Société Générale. It was first issued in April 2023 on Ethereum, making it one of the earliest euro stablecoins from a major systemically important bank. It is fully backed one-to-one by reserves consisting of bank deposits and high-quality liquid assets. Ahead of the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) taking application on 30 June 2024, SG-Forge obtained electronic money institution (EMI) approval, making EURCV one of the first fully MiCA-compliant euro stablecoins. SG-Forge also restructured the token so that, from 1 July 2024, it behaves as an open stablecoin — freely transferable without the whitelisting restrictions that constrained the original design. EURCV has since been deployed multichain: after Ethereum it went to Solana and the XRP Ledger, with Stellar added as the most recent network, and it is listed on venues including Bitvavo and Bullish alongside SG-Forge's dollar stablecoin USDCV. EURCV launched in April 2023 on Ethereum with whitelisting restrictions. SG-Forge obtained EMI approval around MiCA's 30 June 2024 application date and removed transfer whitelisting from 1 July 2024, then expanded the token to Solana, the XRP Ledger and Stellar as part of a multichain strategy.
