Overview
Official Trump ($TRUMP) is a Solana-based memecoin launched on 17 January 2025, three days before Donald Trump's second inauguration. One billion tokens were created; an initial offering released 200 million to the public while Trump-affiliated entities CIC Digital LLC and Fight Fight Fight LLC retained 800 million, subject to a vesting schedule. Within hours the token's fully diluted market value exceeded $27 billion, implying more than $20 billion of paper value for the Trump-linked holdings, after a first-day gain of over 300%. It has since collapsed: by early July 2026 it traded below $2, roughly 97% off its $75.35 peak, and research cited in coverage found about 990,000 investors collectively lost $3.81 billion. In April 2025 the project offered a dinner with the president to the top 220 holders, with the top 25 also receiving a White House tour; the announcement lifted the price more than 50% and winners collectively spent $394 million to qualify. A March 2025 analysis found the project netted at least $350 million from token sales and trading fees. Ethics specialists have called it one of the most blatant instances of selling access to the presidency, lawmakers introduced bills to bar senior officials from profiting off cryptocurrency, and a House Judiciary Committee report concluded Trump profited billions through self-dealing arrangements.
