Overview

Flare is a layer-1 blockchain designed for data-intensive applications, describing itself as the blockchain for building applications that use data from other chains and the internet. Its two enshrined data protocols are the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO), which delivers decentralized price and time-series data to smart contracts, and the Flare Data Connector, which attests to verified events on external chains. FAssets is Flare's system for bringing assets from non-smart-contract chains, such as XRP, into its DeFi ecosystem. The native FLR token is used for gas, staking and delegation to oracle providers, as collateral in FAssets minting, and for governance.

Within the DeFi Intel graph, Flare connects to 10 tracked entities, most strongly to USD Coin, Tether USD, Morpho Blue.
