Overview

Polygon zkEVM was a zero-knowledge rollup on Ethereum developed by Polygon Labs, generating cryptographic validity proofs for batches of transactions so that Ethereum could verify them without re-executing. It was a Type-2 zkEVM, closely equivalent to Ethereum with only minor opcode differences. Polygon Labs announced its shutdown in June 2025 with a year of notice, and the network was sunset on 1 July 2026; users can claim their assets on Ethereum L1 through a dedicated non-custodial interface, with claims signed and submitted by the users themselves.

Within the DeFi Intel graph, Polygon zkEVM connects to 25 tracked entities, most strongly to Ethereum, Ethereum, USD Coin.
