Overview

Ronin is an EVM-compatible blockchain built by Sky Mavis, the studio behind Axie Infinity, originally as an Ethereum-linked sidechain dedicated to that game and later opened up as a general Web3 gaming network hosting titles such as Pixels. It is designed for near-instant transactions and very low fees to suit game economies. On 12 May 2025 Ronin migrated from an independent sidechain to an Ethereum layer-2, ending four years of standalone operation and sharply reducing RON token inflation. Ronin is also known for the 2022 breach of its bridge, one of the largest crypto exploits on record.

Within the DeFi Intel graph, Ronin connects to 21 tracked entities, most strongly to USD Coin, Compound V3, Sky Mavis.
