Overview

The BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, ticker BUIDL, is BlackRock's tokenised cash-management fund, launched in March 2024 with Securitize as tokenisation platform, placement agent and transfer agent. It was BlackRock's first fund issued on a public blockchain, starting on Ethereum with roughly $200 million and later expanding to additional networks; as of March 2026 it was available on at least nine blockchains including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Aptos, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Optimism, Polygon and Solana, with Wormhole serving as the official interoperability provider for cross-chain share classes. A Solana share class was announced in 2025. The product functions as a tokenised money-market-style vehicle for institutional holders — including crypto firms using it as collateral — with yield accruing to holders. Growth has been rapid: BUIDL passed $2 billion in AUM in mid-March 2026, roughly a tenfold increase from launch in under two years, and stood at approximately $2.5 billion across six chains as of May 2026 per one report. Securitize itself went public in 2026. Launched March 2024 on Ethereum with Securitize; expanded to multiple chains via Wormhole; a Solana share class debuted in 2025; crossed $2bn AUM in mid-March 2026 and was reported around $2.5bn by May 2026.
