Aerodrome Slipstream protocol
Overview
Slipstream is the concentrated liquidity AMM built on top of Aerodrome Finance, the leading decentralised exchange on Coinbase's Base layer 2. Aerodrome launched in August 2023 on Base using the Velodrome V2 technology stack, combining Uniswap-style swapping with Curve/Convex-style vote-escrow incentives via veAERO NFTs. Slipstream was launched in March 2024 and is a fork of Uniswap V3 developed by Velodrome and implemented on Aerodrome, letting liquidity providers concentrate capital in specific price ranges with added fee customisation and Base-native performance. Its design target is up to 10x the volume per unit of TVL of standard concentrated-liquidity pools, with proportionally higher trading-fee rewards flowing to veAERO voters. Governance and rewards run through vote-escrowed AERO: locking AERO as veAERO earns holders 100% of trading fees from the pools they vote for, plus any bribe incentives projects add to those gauges. Aerodrome is the largest protocol by TVL on Base, representing over half of the chain's TVL with more than $1 billion across V1 and Slipstream. Aerodrome launched on Base in August 2023 on the Velodrome V2 stack. Slipstream, its concentrated liquidity model developed by Velodrome, launched in March 2024, coinciding with Base TVL approaching $2 billion, and Aerodrome became the largest protocol on Base by TVL.
