Overview

BRZ (Brazilian Digital Token) is a stablecoin pegged one-to-one to the Brazilian real, launched in 2019 and issued by Transfero, working with Transfero Swiss AG and Banco Rendimento. It is fully collateralised: for every BRZ in circulation a corresponding Brazilian real is held in reserve, and Transfero handles minting, redemption and reserve management. Originally an ERC-20 token, BRZ now circulates across more than 16 blockchains including Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, Polygon and Arbitrum, making it one of the most established on-chain representations of the real. Its role is to bridge Brazil's domestic financial system with global digital-asset rails, and it is used for payments, settlement, treasury operations, remittances, portfolio diversification and DeFi. Users mint and redeem through Transfero at parity rather than relying purely on secondary market liquidity. BRZ launched in 2019 as an ERC-20 real-pegged stablecoin created by Transfero Swiss AG together with Banco Rendimento, and subsequently expanded to more than 16 blockchain networks.
