Overview
Binance USD (BUSD) was a dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Paxos Trust Company under the supervision of the New York State Department of Financial Services, launched in partnership with Binance. Following an NYDFS order, Paxos halted new BUSD minting in February 2023 and ended Paxos redemptions in February 2024, and Binance converted remaining balances to other stablecoins. As of 2026-07-15, BUSD is effectively wound down with only a small residual supply outstanding.
