Binance chain
Overview
"Binance chain" refers to the blockchain ecosystem now known as BNB Chain, associated with the exchange Binance. Its smart contract network, BNB Smart Chain, launched on 1 September 2020 as Binance Smart Chain and is EVM-compatible, so Ethereum contracts and tooling largely work unchanged. It uses Proof-of-Staked-Authority consensus with a limited validator set, producing blocks in roughly three seconds at low fees. The wider BNB Chain ecosystem also includes the opBNB layer-2 and BNB Greenfield for decentralized storage, with BNB as the native token.
