Overview
Injective is a layer-1 blockchain purpose-built for finance, developed by Injective Labs, which Eric Chen and Albert Chon founded in 2018 through the first Binance Labs incubation programme. It is built with the Cosmos SDK and uses Tendermint proof-of-stake consensus for instant transaction finality, with the team citing capacity above 10,000 transactions per second. Its defining feature is a native exchange module providing on-chain order book management, matching and settlement, so spot and derivatives markets run with transparent on-chain execution rather than an AMM. INJ is the native token used for staking, governance and protocol fees. Eric Chen serves as CEO and leads protocol direction, developer tooling and partnerships. In 2022 Injective Labs raised $40 million in an institutional round led by Brevan Howard Digital and Jump Capital.
