JPMorgan Chase is an American multinational banking institution headquartered at 270 Park Avenue in New York City and incorporated in Delaware, providing investment banking, asset management, retail banking and wealth management. It was formed on 1 December 2000 through the merger of J.P. Morgan & Co. (founded 1871) and Chase Manhattan Company, itself formed in 1955 from Chase National Bank and the Bank of the Manhattan Company (established 1799). As of 2026 it reported total assets of $4.425 trillion, revenue of $182.4 billion, net income of $57.05 billion, assets under management of $4.791 trillion and 318,512 employees, and it is the largest bank in the United States, the world's largest bank by market capitalisation, the fifth-largest globally by total assets and the largest investment bank by revenue. Jamie Dimon is chairman and CEO. In digital assets it operates Kinexys (formerly Onyx), which issues the JPMD deposit token — JPM Coin — on the public Base network for institutional clients, and has run tokenisation pilots under MAS's Project Guardian. Formed 1 December 2000 from the merger of J.P. Morgan & Co. and Chase Manhattan Company, whose predecessor Bank of the Manhattan Company dates to 1799. Its blockchain unit Onyx was rebranded Kinexys; it piloted USD deposit tokens and in June 2025 launched a JPMD pilot on Base, making it the first bank to issue a US dollar deposit token on a public blockchain, with B2C2, Coinbase and Mastercard among early testers.
